I'm Will O'Donnell, Director of Seido Art Services. I've spent over fifteen years working as an art installer, and I still love the work that we do: taking a piece someone cares about and finding exactly the right place, height and fixing for it in their home or workplace.
I studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths College, University of London, where I first found my interest in working with artists, handling their work, and installing exhibitions. That interest took me into the exhibitions department at Sotheby’s and then at Tate Britain and Tate Modern, where I worked closely with artists including Wolfgang Tillmans and Mona Hatoum on their retrospectives. From there, the work took me further afield, installing exhibitions in New York, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Sydney, Prague, Paris and elsewhere.
I set up Seido Art Services to bring that same standard of care, learned in some of the world's leading galleries, to private homes and businesses. My goal on every project is straightforward: to help you achieve the look you want for your space, through a proper in-person consultation and installation carried out to the standard I'd expect for any piece I hang, regardless of its size or value.
Who We Work With
Seido Art Services serves a wide range of clients, from homeowners and private art collectors to interior designers, experienced art buyers, dealers, and public and private institutions with their own collections. Every client's space and collection is different, and we try to treat each project on its own terms rather than applying a single formula. We're based in London, and have carried out installations across the UK and internationally.
How We Approach Art Installation
We look at the room before we look at the wall. Where a piece will be seen from, what furniture sits near it, and how it will read against the rest of the room usually tells us more about the right position than the wall alone does. A piece hung correctly by the tape measure can still feel wrong if it ignores how the room is actually used.
The wall decides the fixing, not the other way round. Plasterboard, masonry, period lath and plaster and modern stud walls all behave differently under load, and a fixing that's right for one can be entirely wrong for another. We assess the wall's construction and the piece's weight together before deciding how it will be hung, rather than defaulting to whatever fixing is fastest.
Consistency matters more than any single measurement. We generally work to eye level for individual pieces, but the more important thing across a collection or a gallery wall is that everything relates to everything else, so the whole arrangement reads as considered rather than as a series of separate decisions.
A completed installation is reviewed as carefully as it was planned. We check each piece from multiple viewpoints, including how it sits within the wider room, before the job is considered finished. This final review is often where the smallest but most important adjustments are made.
