Our Installation Process
Every installation begins with understanding both the artwork and the space in which it will be displayed. Whether we're hanging a single painting within a private home or coordinating the installation of an entire artwork collection, our approach remains consistent: careful planning, technical expertise and meticulous attention to detail.
Consultation and Understanding Your Requirements
We begin by discussing your objectives, the artwork to be installed and the character of the space. If you already have a clear vision or would like guidance on positioning and arrangement, we take the time to understand how the artwork will be viewed and how it should complement the surrounding interior.
Placement Planning and Layout
Before any fixings are installed, we consider the placement of each piece. Factors such as viewing height, proportions, lighting, furniture, architectural features and the relationship between multiple artworks all influence the final layout. For gallery walls, staircase arrangements and larger collections, we can assist in planning a balanced composition that enhances the overall space. Our experience allows us to recommend layouts that complement both the artwork and the surrounding interior.
Appropriate Fixings
Every installation is assessed individually. We determine the most suitable fixing method based on the size, weight and construction of the artwork or mirror, together with the wall type and structural considerations. By using the contextually appropriate fixings and installation techniques from the outset, we ensure every piece is safely and securely supported while minimising unnecessary disruption to the surrounding surfaces.
Precise Installation
Our experienced installers carry out every installation with precision, working methodically and respectfully within your property, we install each artwork with accuracy and care. During the installation process, we maintain a clean and organised working environment, taking every precaution to protect both the artwork and your property.
Final Adjustments and Quality Checks
Before completing the installation, every artwork is checked for alignment, level, spacing and overall presentation. Minor adjustments are made where necessary to achieve the best visual result, ensuring the finished installation is secure, accurately positioned and ready to be enjoyed for years to come.
Why Hire a Professional Picture Hanging Service?
Picture hanging is about far more than simply fixing a picture to a wall. Achieving a secure, level and visually balanced installation requires experience, planning and an understanding of both the artwork and the building in which it will be displayed. A hallway photograph and a gallery display are reviewed to the same standards: is it level, is it secure, and does it sit where the eye expects it to relative to the room or any other visible artworks.
Experience You Can Trust
Seido Art Services combines expert picture hanging expertise with extensive fine art handling experience having installed many thousands of artworks across private homes, hotels, galleries, commercial developments, corporate headquarters and public institutions. Our team includes art installers that have worked at galleries and museums including: Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Hayward Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Royal Academy, Sotheby’s, Somerset House and more.
Seido Art Services has installed artwork across London and the UK for 6+ years, working with clients including Giorgio Armani, Audemars Piguet, Hermes, The Four Seasons, Citco, The Italian Embassy alongside hotel installations such as 1,400 individual items for Mason & Fifth, 720 items for Hilton Hotels, and over 300 artworks for a hotel in Al Ula, Saudi Arabia.
High Standards for Every Installation
Every artwork deserves the same level of care, regardless of its value or size. We approach every installation using professional handling techniques, assessing each artwork, its weight, construction and display requirements before choosing the most appropriate installation method. This considered approach helps protect both the artwork and the surrounding interior while delivering a secure, long-lasting installation.
The Right Fixings for Every Wall
An incorrectly rated fixing is not always apparent until it fails. A hook designed to hold 5kg supporting a 12kg framed mirror may remain in place for months before the wall gives way. We calculate the wall's true load-bearing capacity before selecting a fixing, rather than after installation.
Precision Installation and Specialist Equipment
Accurate and considered installation is measured in millimetres. We take great care to achieve fine tuned positioning, consistent spacing and perfectly level installations. Where projects require it, our team uses specialist access equipment including staircase ladders, scaffold towers and material lifts to safely install artwork in challenging locations such as stairwells, double-height spaces and entrance halls.
Hanging High-Value Artwork
Our clients trust us with valuable artwork because we understand the responsibility that comes with handling it. We are insured for £5 million public liability cover with Allianz and undertake installations of high-value artworks within private residences and designer-led interiors. Regardless of project size, our objective remains the same: to deliver an installation that enhances both the artwork and the space in which it is displayed.
Mirror Hanging Services in London
Mirrors often present greater installation challenges than framed artwork. Their weight, size and construction require appropriate fixings and accurate positioning to ensure they are both safe and visually balanced. If it’s a decorative hallway mirror, a large statement piece above a fireplace or an oversized mirror within a commercial environment, our experienced installers ensure every mirror is securely mounted and professionally presented.
Every mirror installation begins with an assessment of both the mirror and the wall on which it will be installed. Because the weight of a mirror sits behind solid glass rather than a lighter frame, the margin for error is smaller than with most artworks. We therefore select fixings with additional capacity above the mirror's stated weight, rather than to the minimum specification supplied by the manufacturer.
Where projects involve oversized or heavy mirrors, we can arrange additional installers together with suitable lifting equipment and access solutions to ensure the installation is completed safely and efficiently.
Considered positioning is equally as important as secure installation. We take time to consider viewing angles, room proportions, ceiling heights, furniture layouts and the way natural and artificial light interact with the mirror, ensuring it enhances both the functionality and appearance of the space.
Seido Art Services hangs mirrors throughout London, the Home Counties and the UK, from a single hallway piece to a full commercial fit-out.
Commercial Picture Hanging Services
While many of our clients ask us to hang a single painting or mirror within their home, Seido Art Services is equally experienced delivering large-scale commercial artwork installation projects in both London and across the UK. Our team regularly works with businesses, interior designers, architects, developers and art consultants to install artwork within offices, hotels, restaurants, hospitality venues, showrooms and luxury residential developments.
From reception areas and boardrooms to guest bedrooms, restaurants and public spaces, every environment presents its own practical and aesthetic considerations. We understand the importance of delivering installations that not only present the artwork beautifully, but also complement the surrounding architecture, interior design and day-to-day operation of the building.
Our experience includes large scale hotel installations involving more than 1,400 artworks, coordinated artwork installations for international art fairs including Frieze London and Photo London, and installations within private residences, embassies and designer-led interiors. We work efficiently alongside principal contractors, fit-out teams and other trades, adapting to live project environments while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and professionalism.
Access Equipment and Security Fixings
Many installations require considerably more planning than simply fixing a picture to a wall. Oversized artwork, valuable collections, difficult access and unusual wall constructions all demand specialist knowledge and equipment.
Our team is experienced in installing artwork on staircases, within double-height entrance halls, over stairwells and in other challenging locations where access equipment is required. We are equipped with professional solutions, including stair ladders, mobile scaffold towers and material lifting equipment, enabling us to safely install artwork that would otherwise be inaccessible.
For clients requiring additional security, we can also advise on and install specialist security fixings to help prevent the unauthorised removal of artwork. These systems are commonly used within hotels, offices, galleries, public buildings and other commercial environments where artwork security is an important consideration.
What We Install
Our picture hanging service is trusted to install everything from a single framed print in a private home to complete artwork collections within embassies, corporate offices and public spaces. Frequently Asked Questions
Still have questions? Take a look at the FAQ or reach out anytime.
-
Cost depends on the number and size of items; contact us for a quote based on your job. Bookings start from £160+VAT.
-
We select fixings appropriate to the wall type and the weight of each item, which minimises disruption to the surrounding surface. Any holes required are kept as small and as few as possible. On plasterboard in particular, using a fixing suited to the actual weight of the item, rather than the smallest fixing that will hold it, reduces the risk of damage over time.
-
When you get in contact with us, there is some helpful information to help us with understanding your job and providing an accurate quote. Please let us know how many items there are in total, don't worry if there might be a few more on the day. Let us know if there are any large items (over 1.5m) or heavy items (over 15 kg). Let us know if there are any items to be hung very high (over 2m) or on stairs. If there is a particular date you need the job done by or a particular schedule to work around.
-
Each job is different as one large, heavy or difficult item can take an hour to prepare and hang safely, whereas smaller lighter items can be at an average rate of 5 to 6 an hour. Time taken is also dependent on wall material and the existing fixtures on the art works. When you contact us, we can give a more accurate estimate with further details about your job.
-
We have a range of fixings suitable for heavy items and experience with different wall materials. There is an upper limit on weight on plasterboard of around 75kg, but if studs are available at the location the weight capacity is higher. On masonry (brick/concrete) weight bearing capacity is much higher.
-
Plasterboard can support surprisingly heavy items when the correct fixings are used, but the margin for error narrows considerably as weight increases. For lightweight mirrors, a well-rated fixing positioned into a stud is often sufficient. For heavier mirrors, particularly anything above 15kg, professional installation is recommended, as an incorrectly rated fixing can appear secure for weeks or months before failing, by which point the wall itself may also be damaged. If you are unsure of a mirror's weight or your wall's construction, we are happy to advise before you proceed.
-
We have a team of expert installers that we can call upon for their assistance with larger projects that require multiple personnel. We will usually need some time to make these arrangements.
-
Often mirrors come with hanging mechanisms that the manufacturer has installed that would be suitable, this sometimes includes heavy-duty wire. If mirrors are lightweight the wire can usually be used for hanging, but for larger or heavier mirrors it is much better to hang from fixtures attached to the frame. Sometimes mirrors come with 3rd party modifications in the form of wire or string, and we can advise on their suitability and either replace with fixed point or stronger wire.
-
We recommend eye level to the middle of the picture for all items except very large or tall pictures. This creates a flow and visual coherence through the room and the collection by aligning each picture at a specific middle height, creating consistency when the items may vary in size.
-
This depends on the style of mirror but for medium-sized mirrors we usually recommend between shoulder and eye level to the middle of the mirror, and this will depend on the height of the user and the intended location of the mirror.
It's often better to hang mirrors slightly lower than you would hang pictures, so that they are functional, open up the room and bounce light around the space. If mirrors are too high on the wall, often you can only see the ceiling in the reflection.
-
Where possible, we always hang items from two points, ideally fixed points. This stops the pictures from sliding about when doors are closed or the wind blows through or if they are lightly bumped.
-
Not always! Depending on the size of your collection, it can be better to make groupings and arrangements and to leave blank spaces to highlight the walls with art works or to give room for the collection to grow.
-
We have specialist ladders for hanging pictures on staircases that have height adjustment and are adaptable to most scenarios. We are also licensed to construct scaffold towers on stairs for extremely high walls or challenging locations.
-
Picture hanging generally refers to securely and accurately hanging individual pictures, prints or mirrors within a home or workplace. Art installation is a broader term that also covers the planning, handling and positioning of full collections, sculptural pieces and large-scale commercial projects, often involving multiple installers and specialist access equipment. In practice the two terms overlap considerably, and our team provides both, from a single picture on a domestic wall to a complete collection across a commercial property.
-
This is not essential, provided we have clear instructions on placement and access to the property. Many clients, particularly for commercial projects, provide detailed plans or reference images and are not on-site throughout. For residential installations, most clients prefer to be present, at least for the initial placement decisions.
-
For single items or small jobs, we can often accommodate requests within a few days, subject to availability. Larger projects, particularly commercial installations or those requiring additional installers or access equipment, are best booked several weeks in advance to allow for proper planning.
-
We can provide solutions for preventing thieves or opportunists from removing art works from their locations. Usually this involves security fixings, and we can provide you a key and instructions on their use. We typically install these security fixings for high value items in homes or for areas of transit in public spaces or in businesses such as hotels and restaurants.
-
Unfortunately, this needs to be done by a qualified electrician, but we can advise on models and manufacturers of picture lights and arrange an electrician to install on request.
-
We work between 8am and 6pm, but we are flexible and able to accommodate out-of-hours work, including early starts, late night jobs or weekend work. Out-of-hours and weekend work is subject to surcharges that can be discussed on enquiry.
